The Story of 2 Founders
This is a story of 2 co-founders - a story which is very common in any business with 2 co-founders - but this story instead of having an ending has a new beginning.
The 2 co-founders were upset with each other. The CEO founder felt that the COO co-founder wasn't supporting him to scale the business. In fact, on the contrary, he was silently opposing him. The COO co-founder was upset because he felt he was not consulted about the roadmap of the company's growth. In fact, he didn't even think what the CEO founder was proposing was in the realm of possibility.
CEO Founder's Mind - COO is not moving fast enough for us to grow.
COO Co-Founder's Mind - CEO has ideas about growth that are impractical and impossible.
In fact, this could be a story of any CEO and any of his Leadership Team member in any business in the world. How does this usually end? In a heart-breaking separation.
Business failure is usually an inability to communicate in the world of others - in the world of our team members, in the world of our customers, in the world of our investors, in the world of our business partners.
Though, before we can communicate powerfully in the world of others (Gear 3 of Leadership Depth) for them to be a Yes to our proposal, we need 2 other gears to climb -
Gear 1 - Agility of Mind to move from 'I am Right, You are Wrong.' to 'I am Right. You are Right.'
Gear 2 - Being of Service to the person we are communicating with by moving from 'This is what I want' to 'What do you want and how can I support you to get what you want?'
Well, the founder and the co-founder we started this story with happen to have the same coach. So, they came into a coaching session and spoke to each other with authentic vulnerability. Miraculously, through that conversation, they found their greatest supporter and believer in each other.
I am going to bet my last paisa on their super success, though they don't have any investors rooting for them and they are working silently with commitment to serve their employees and customers in one end of country without their photos being splashed all over the newspapers.
